Carolina Rock & Roll Remembered Facebook Page

Hello all-

Just a reminder to check out the Carolina Rock & Roll Remembered Facebook page for lots of cool finds, songs and photos of the music and scenes that we covered in our book. Ever wondered who the Jesters, of "Wrong Ticket" were, and where they were from? We recently uncovered that, with photos to boot! Stop in and say hello, and tell them that There Was A Time sent you. Thank you all,

Phil Lee And Mannish Boys Back In The Carolinas In December

Attention Phil Lee and Mannish Boys fans. Phil and the band are putting together a short post-holiday tour, after Phil and the Bondsmen reunite for their annual show in Durham on December 26th. We've already booked a show in Winston-Salem on December 28th (more info on that coming shortly). We're looking for some cool places throughout the Carolinas that want to host the guys rocking the house. Maybe even your house. Email Phil Lee or the Mannish Boys if you're interested. Hope to see you soon, and see you on the road.

StudioEast (Arthur Smith Studios) Is Closing

Hello all-

I wanted to pass along the sad news that Arthur Smith Studios, more recently StudioEast, is closing after 55 years in business. The studio portion will go elsewhere, while the building is now owned by a law firm. While the building itself will thankfully still exist, it is sad to see the end of a place where so many famous people worked and recorded. This includes several songs featured in There Was A Time, including "Abba" by the Paragons, "Catch A Ride" by the Grifs, "Go Way Girl" by the Damascans, the Young Ages, and many, many more.

May the music and the people that created there live forever.

Postponing The Decades Of Rock Show Due To The Incoming Hurricane, Updates Coming Soon

So here's a story about the hurricane. Randy Franklin and the Sardines, and Jake Berger and the Mannish Boys are prepared to rock you like a hurricane on Saturday, but it's best to not Rock during a hurricane. I know, there's calm in your eyes, but you'll keep being blown away, so it's better to be somewhere safer where the feeling stays. So yes, we're postponing our inaugural Decades Of Rock show until a later date. Until then, we'll all be riding the storm out, waiting for the fallout. Spread the word, see you on the Weather Channel, and see you on the road.
